Humbuckers
All Pickups are hand wound to order. Delivery time is 2 - 3 weeks.
* Diablo - For modern prog players that need clarity, great clean and great distortion sounds while retaining note definition. This is a great all around pickup and my personal favorite. I have a lot of customers in prog bands using these. Diablo pickups are a build theory. The idea is to create a pickup that is aggressive yet articulate with good bite and growl. Utilizing alnico8 magnets in the bridge positions make the highs sparkle without a harsh overtone. The results is a surprising HiFi feel without sounding cold. The magnet choice also adds punch to the lows giving the pickup good balance. Alnico5 magnets and the same theory is applied to the neck pickup. The next goal is to wind the pickup hot enough to break up a clean tube amp but not a clean solid state. Providing the player with sparkly clean or a good bite depending on pick attack. Distorted, the Diablo retains all of its clarity without being harsh or quacky so even at thrash speed every note is clear on legato runs. The response to the volume knob is really good with only a touch of the knob to back it down. The end result is a cross between modern power and vintage tone.
Diablos are very full range they are modeled after John Birch pickups. Diablos bring regular guitars to life. They are a perfect fit in anything "off the shelf". Most of my local customers swap all their pickups in their guitars with Diablos.
* Destroyer - 80s metal updated for the modern player. Slightly dirty clean sounds and crushing distortion while retaining all the clarity and note definitions at high gain. Destroyer pickups are built to scream. The idea is to create a pickup that is always aggressive while retaining all the clarity of the notes and chords played at breakneck speed with huge volume. Utilizing alnico8 magnets and special allen head pole pieces the Destroyer aims to deliver top notch bass response and solid midrange. Wound hotter than a Diablo with the intent of delivering monsterously punchy lows and active like harmonics without overwound mud. If you play aggressive in your face metal this is the pickup for you.
I built it so I could play Iron Maiden covers that sounded right... turns out it is a really good metal pickup. Most guys who play heavy 7 string rhythms like these.
* WarHammer - The prototype is only for bonecrushing rhythms and blistering leads. I am not sure why I even started working on them except to prove I could build a super high output pickup (18k+) that sounded good. So far I have a good version for 6 strings and the 7 string is in the works. It is not for tone gurus but guys that run tons of gain, put their head down and play punishing rhythms.
* Whiskey - Growling vintage tones that clean up with a touch of the volume knob. Built to reproduce the "brown sound" that late 70s Hollywood metal sound. This is a hand wound hot PAF style pickup with an Alnico 2 magnet.
* Dirt - While designing the Whiskey I stumbled on a great design. Vintage crunch with modern feel the Dirt is able to produce tones reminisnet of the NWOBM and the Seattle sound...dirty yet it cleans up with a touch on the volume knob. The Dirt comes in two flavors "crunchy" and "extra crunchy". Crunchy uses 12 Nickel plated vintage spec pole pieces and an Alnico 8 magnet. The Extra Crunchy version uses 12 Allen Head pole pieces and a Ceramic 8 Magnet.
* Classic - Classic PAF design. Potted to be used on higher gain amps.
* Jazz - Classic PAF design. Darker overtones and potted to be used on higher gain amps.
Single Coils
* Diablo - Limited run design based on a P90 in a Stratocaster sized Single Coil. The idea is not to reproduce Stratocaster sounds but instead replicate the P90 for in smaller sized pickup. Clean but with good gain and a crisp pop it is well suited to be paired with a Diablo Humbucker.
* Destroyer - Slightly hotter version of the Diablo
* Warhammer - Extremely hotter version of the Diablo
* Classic - Classic 54 Stratocaster style pickups with staggered pole pieces and 42awg wire
