Labor day

For the record Ziricote is hard as a rock and brittle. It cuts well with the bandsaw but it sands hard. I burnt the 80 grit sandpaper while thickness sanding the top on the first go because I was trying to take to much. I ended up using 60 grit to get the plates close then switched to 80 grit and made passes at less than 1/64". Tedious. I am not looking forward to shaping this top.

The 120 grit sanding block I use for all purpose shaping and stuff barely makes marks in it. It even scrapes hard. However, it shines like you polished it after scraping.

Top thickness sanded and joined... I had to use Epoxy. The edges were unstable and cracking as I was truing the plates. I also lost a knot or 2 because I forgot to stabilize them first. It wasn't bad and I doubt they would be seen anyway.

Glued up the neck. I ended up getting in a hurry and forgot to drill my wire routes. Once again no worries as I will route some channels before installing the top.

Gratuitous glued neck shot and the Scooby-Doo shot.
