A note about electronics...

I am not sure I have ever used a tone knob... or would even know what to do with it.

When I was playing out I learned that simple was best. As a single guitarist in a prog/thrash band it was too much trouble to switch pickups or sounds when playing a million miles an hour.

I use a Push/Pull Volume knob on most setups. In 2 Humbucker setups I use the push/pull to change between them, up being the neck. 1 Humbucker I use the push/pull to coil tap, up being the tap. This way when the solo is over I can just wak the knob down and be back on the full bore bridge pickup. If I have a 2 HB and want to coil tap I will throw a dpdt in the mix.

I like the tone from the most direct path to the amp. I had a few guitars with single HBs wired up with just a kill switch.
