8 String pickup development continues. Tomorrow I will shape these bobbins out and start gluing some others together. It has been miserable cold here for the past week. I had to go out and buy another heater for the shop...

Octo pups

8 String pickups are now in the works... Including single coils.

Octo prototype begins

Peruvian Walnut and Birdseye Maple neck with a Peruvian Walnut body. Right now I plan on using a flamed Claro Walnut top. I am still undecided on the fretboard.



New templates are required. I am making the S9 body a bit larger to accomidate the larger neck and to help with the overall asthetics. I need a CNC....

Assembled today. The next week will be spent fine tuning it.

Bandsaw repaired...

At least I have some progress. This is part of the pile... We have some white limba bodies and a neck, peruvian walnut body, african mahogany body, sapele bodies, flame maple necks, ebony, bubinga, and cocobolo stringers. (etc...)



Some cocobolo and ziricote fretboards...



Peruvian walnut and Birdseye maple neck blank... 8 string perhaps?



Still have a bunch of Ziricote to cut up...

Best laid plans...

I should have know Friday when I couldn't find a 105" 3/8" Bandsaw blade at the local wood store that it was going to be a bad weekend for the bandsaw. Saturday I went to work anyway... about 5 hours later I had only cut half the wood I planned on cutting. I had burnt through 3 blades, 1 tire, and blew the through-out bearing on the bottom guide out.

Oh well Monday is time for ceramic through out bearings, urethane tires, and some new blades. Then back to ripping and cutting.

Also what color pickup bobbins? Creme or Black or aged White (Not pictured)? Chrome covers are not an option...

Assembled. The morning after... needs about a week of tweaking to get everything perfect but overall it is good. They always take a while to settle down and be what they are going to be. Better pictures in a few weeks.
