Desert Sun Yellow

Ok we have survived without flames. I let it cure up for a few weeks before trying to save it. I ended up scraping the entire top with a razor, re-shooting some color, then clearing the top. Miserable experience with less than desired results. It looks more like a restoration than a new build. I have one more silly neon guitar to build so I will try to do it better next time.

The soft maple neck has held up great... not sure what I was so worried about as it is just as stiff as my hard maple necks. I would assume laminating it makes the difference. I really like the Wilkinson tremolo it is so nice I doubt I would ever need a locking tremolo again. I made the neck so wide (1 3/4" nut) and flat (16" radius) and used huge jescar fret wire so that it is hard not to shred when playing it.

The electronics are typical for my builds... single push pull volume knob. The V1 and V2 pickups were made for poplar/basswood style bodies as they scream in this thing. I contemplated winding my own pickups but the intention was to build a playable RG550. It could use a coil tap but until I figure out how to do that all in one knob it will stay like it is. I used a strapjack for an input to keep it clean, you know how I hate clutter.
